Yes, the Full version will do either a clean installation or an
upgrade without a problem.

However be sure it's really a Full Retail version. Many people
confuse an OEM Version with the Full Version; An OEM Version will
*not* do an upgrade.

Before you upgrade, however be sure there are benefits to you you
ininstalling Professional. For most home users, there are none. If
it's a Full version, you may be better off selling it

XP Professional and XP Home are exactly the same in all respects,
except that Professional has a few features (mostly related to
networking and security) missing from Home. For most (but not
all) home users, these features aren't needed, would never be
used, and buying Professional instead of Home is a waste of
money.

For details go to

Also note that Professional allows ten concurrent network
connections, and Home only five.

there isn't enough difference between home and pro to make it worth while
unless you need encripted files and networking.
you should be able to upgrade .

WinXP is designed to install and upgrade the existing operating
system while simultaneously preserving your applications and data, and
translating as many personalized settings as possible. The process is
designed to be, and normally is, quite painless. That said, things
can go wrong, in a small number of cases. If your data is at all
important to you, back it up before proceeding.

The upgrade from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro, in particular, almost
always goes smoothly, as both operating systems use the same kernel.
