I am about to do a System Recovery on my XP Home Edition
due to various problems I've been having. I undestand XP
SP2 will be out shortly and if I wait, I can get all of
the old and new updates in one swoop. Does anyone have
any idea when SP2 will be available? Tech TV's Call for
Help thinks maybe within the next month.

Greetings --

Windows XP Service Pack 2 is due out sometime early next year. Microsoft
has not set a date for the release. What you might try before you do a
reinstall is to either search these newsgroups for answers to very common
problems and also make a new post with the problems you are having.

The current forecast for the release of SP2 for Windows XP is sometime
mid-2004.

As Carey said mid 2004.
You can still get most of the updates in 2 packages:
SP1:
Do not use Express Installation.
You can order Service Pack 1a CD from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/ordercd.asp
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windowsxp/servicepacks/sp1.asp
Or:
Download the Network Installation from here: (be sure to select the
correct language)
Also select "Windows XP Professional and Home Edition" Do NOT select
64 bit.

DSL takes about 20 minutes, if you do not have high speed access, get
a friend to D/L SP1a for you.
Then burn it to a CD and keep for the future.

Update Rollup 1:

After these two, they are only a few left.
