Windows XP setup hangs upon installation during reboot. I
have heard that this may be due to my graphic card -
geforce2 MX 400. Can anyone tell me how to get around
this problem?

I downloaded the updated driver, but I do not have XP
installed. I currently have ME installed, so i installed
those drivers. The problem still occurs where XP
installation freezes when it gets up to the "Setup is
starting Windows" section. It also freezes when I try to
upgrade to XP instead of do a new installation. Upon
reboot, the Windows setup reloads and the screen goes
black, where a faint windows logo can be seen. How to I
correct this problem, or get around it ?

Try the installation with a different video card.
Then swap cards back and install drivers after Windows XP is
installed.

Is there any other way I can install Windows XP other
than removing the video card? By warranty agreement I am
not permitted to open the case of the computer.

The reboot at which I am talking about is the one after
Setup copies files over to the computer (because I choose
new installation). XP doesnt even install.
Manufacturer has no new ideas. Only idea is to take out
graphics card and install, then replace it, but this
would void the warranty.

It is a rare computer with a void warranty after the case is open.
Most will not warrant changes made and you would need to return it to
original configuration before warranty work can be performed.
But the warranty is still valid.

If you have not done so already, disconnect all peripherals (scanner,
printer, camera etc)
Go here:

Run #3 Upgrade Advisor.
Or, while at the desktop, insert the Windows XP CD and choose the
compatibility option.
Be sure to be connected to the internet so the latest data can be
used.
What are the results?

I've decided to send the computer back to the
manufacturer so they can deal with the problem.
Thanks for your assistance anyway.
