The Install Wizard recommends "backing up the system" before
continuing with the installation.
What exactly should be backed up?
What is at risk if I don't back anything up?
Should a restore point be created?
thanks
What exactly should be backed up?
Back up anything that you have of value on the computer - documents,
important e-mail, photos, MP3's, downloaded programs, etc., etc. Chances
are if you need to ask such a question, there is nothing you have of value
to backup.
What is at risk if I don't back anything up?
Losing everything of value due to a faulty SP install - worse case scenerio,
not being able to boot into Windows.
Should a restore point be created?
YES - always always always create restore points before doing ANYTHING of
consequence on a computer. A better suggestion would be to get a program
called GoBack (
www.symantec.com) which will automatically create restore
points for you and is a million times better than System Restore. At $ 20
US it is a steal - well worth the dough.
Good luck,
