win XP PRO SP2 iE

the icon on desktop got lost and can't seem to find the correct one. whereas
I can right click it and clean out TIF files etc I want to reinstall it but
can't seem to do that either cause it just won't allow it to happen. The IE
opens fine but can't clean it out.
Where is correct icon located or how do I replace it? Can u Hlep thankyou

Right click the desktop and choose Properties | Desktop | Customize Desktop.
Make sure IE is checked.
