Win XP PRo Detecting too many wireless networks

I'm helping someone with a wireless network.
They have a wireless bridge and a router and the cable
modem behind that.

The Internet and network is looking great so far (and I
went the extra mile to give them a 172.x.x.x IP block so
that it wouldn't be in the same IP range as other
wireless networks in their building). That's the concern.
There's at least 4 other wireless lan's in their
apartment building, and we've heard that there is a
probablility that there's nearly 10 in the building.

So when we double click on the two computers icon in the
system tray and click on the Advanced button, we may only
see the one network when the computer is booted up. But
then it seeks out the other networks (regardless of what
channel they are on) and attempts to connect to another
random network that's listed in that screen.

Everything works great until it trys to connect to the
other systems.

I looked it up in the knowledge base and couldn't find
anything, as well as in the hardware docs for their
equipment:
http://www.netgear.com/support/products/MR814v2.asp

I found this resource after scouring the Internet, and
tried making their screens look the same, and it still
tries to seek out those other networks.
(setup for access point, and the automatically connect to
non-preffered networks is also unchecked).

A buddy of mine said that there is some software patch
you guys have for this exact thing, called "NAS". I
couldn't find any information about that either to see if
it did truly apply to this or not.

As they have all sorts of programs on there, I didn't
want to make the assumption of simply reinstalling
Windows.
But I didn't know if there's something else to stop
this from seeking these other networks, or in the very
least, to not allow them to connect to any network other
than his own.
Or perhaps there's just a reg key that we can
modify/delete to accomplish this?

Thanks,

Garlend

Kill XP trying to be smart Wireless network auto config.
Untick the box inside the NIC properties with wordings something like "Let
Windows Auto detect the wireless network"

And set using the NIC control s/ware.
