Is it shared out to that user? IOW, does that user have permission to
access that printer?

You know you are in Hell when you have to make a
distinction between what is moral and what is legal.

Sorry I am not smart enough to understand your question.

This can be confusing stuff unless you know MS-Speak.

You can practice learning MS-Speak by reviewing the old Abbott and
Costello skit about a baseball game ("Who's on first?") and the movie
Airplane where they discuss the reporting structure for three people
named Ober, Unger and Dunn.

Alternatively if you are not a masochist, I recommend one of the
Microsoft Press books on Windows Networking. For Win2K networking I
bought the Expert Companion book, which is actually the Windows 2000
Professional System Manual written in human-readable format. If you
are running XP, there is an advanced networking book that was
recommended here earlier:

"Microsoft Windows XP Networking Inside Out"

It shouldn't be any different for XP Home than it is for XP Pro.

After making the registry change at the home machine, and rebooting, have
you looked at the event log at the host machine--to see whether it is
complaining about lack of an appropriate driver?

You need the appropriate driver for the printer on the host machine.
