Win XP freezes after logon - does not load desktop

Hi Gurus,

My computer running WinXP freezes after the logon screen
and only shows the wallpaper bu does not load the desktop
or start menu. Any help will be appreciated. Happy
Holidays.
 
Mine is doing the same thing. The only way I can run anything is using the task manager. I do notice that when I shutdown the icons appear for a couple seconds before the computer shuts down.
 
I had the same issue. It is a novell network and is an
issue with the client. A work around is to a ctrl+alt+del
and logout and then log back in with no problem. I
recently tried to remove NAL (service that runs in XP)
from the registry and that has now worked for about 2 1/2
months. This issue was not all the time may be two or
three times a week.
