Win XP fax Question

I have been able to transmit faxes without problems using
a cheap USB external modem and XP fax console, but I have
one recipient who has an old Brother Personal FAX-275
thermal fax machine which I cannot get to receive my faxes.
I don't know if it's because that old fax machine might
use a different fax protocol or what.
Does anyone have any tips that can be used either by myself
or the recipient when I try to send a fax to an older model
fax machine?

I suspect the "old" fax machine may be a class 1, and your modem set to
class 2 (See the above reference)
Setting your modem to class 1 may or may not help. To add insult to injury,
some fax programs work better in
one mode or the other.
It's also possible that you didn't obtain a phone connection that is good
enough to send a fax to the receipient.
In a few cases, usually involving something other than "POTS" phone service,
the phone provider has locked out
Fax service, and restores it for a fee..

My modem can only be configured as a class 1, but the recipient in
question had another old fax machine available, a Sharp UX100, and
I was able to fax to that machine, so fortunately the problem is
resolved. Thanks anyway for the response.
