Win XP critical download problems

I ran the Windows Update at the MS site and after the 17
files were downloaded, the window remained on my screen.
Nothing appeared to be happening. The percent complete
bars were complete for the download, but the install bar
remained empty. I waited about 20 minutes but nothing
changed. Do I need to wait longer or am I correct in
assuming that the installation process has failed.

Mark, try downloading a few at a time. You can remove or add updates at
the winupdate site.
