i put in soundblaster audigy 2 platinum pro. i turned on
my pc. windows loaded and nothing came up. i went to add
new hardware and that said that there was nothing found.
how can i make windows xp recognise it.
system details:
win xp pro
70 gb hard drive
intel pentium 4 3ghz
2 gig ddr 400

cheers zahiar

Power off open the case and reseat the sound card.
Perhaps the sound card is damaged.

the sound card is not damaged because i tried it on my
old pc and it worked.
mother board = gaigabyte ga-8knxp.
the sound card won't work on the pc with this motherboard.

Have you tried the card in a different slot?
Verify with both manufacturers that card will work with that
motherboard.
There may be forums on both manufacturers websites where you can ask
other users if they have the same combination.

I'm not familiar with your board zahiar, but if it has on-
board sound, that will likely have to be disabled, either
via jumpers or in the bios....

i put it in another slot. windows said new hardware was
found and it was a multimedia controlller. i put the disc
in. it started to install then it said setup could not
dtetect sound blaster audigy2 on your system. please
ensure your hardware is properly installed and working.
setup will now exit. then on found new hardware i told it
to look for drivers and it did not find any. then i told
it to look on the cd and it still said it didn't find
anything.

i disabled it in the bios and now windows does not come
up saying that new hardware has been found.

z, do you have sp1 installed already on your pc?

you can ask
.

make sure you have the latest motherboard chipset
drivers - ive had an identical problem w/ a video card,
and that actually helped. reinstall them even if you do.

If the latest drivers (motherboard chipset, sound etc) do not change
anything, did you contact the manufacturers?
