Hi,

I upgraded from Win 98 (with an copy of Office 2000) to
Win XP and added two users - myself and my friend. We are
both set up as administrators.

When I perform fast user switching, and go into my
friend's account, my friend no longer has access to
Microsoft Word, whereas in my user account, I do have
access.

How can I fix this so that my friend can access Word from
their account?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Most applications weren't designed for this type of multi-user environment.
Such applications need to be installed in each specific user's account to
whom you wish to grant access.

First, be sure the account to which you wish to grant access is set to
administrator and not limited. Install the applications to the same folder
in which it was originally installed. This will look the same as one
install on your hard drive but create the pointers necessary for this user
to have access to the application.

Once the installation is complete, you can return the account to its limited
status if that is what you want and the user should still have access.

Hi James,

What happens when he tried to open it? It is listed under All Programs,
right? For most secondary users/profiles what happens is that the installer
tries to run each time an attempt is made to open one of the Office
products.

The issue is that the UserData value is missing. I have the edit created
for both Office XP and O2K on line 171: It will add the needed values for
you. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
