I have a Toshiba laptop (I am the initial owner) and the
initial activation was done by a friend. After a few
month I had to reiinstall the whole system. I forgot
about activation and, on instalation, I skiped it. Now
the system is shutting down from time to time when I
access the Internet... I folowed instructions about
activation, but on System tools, I have no Activate
Windows option... What do I do now? I read about the code
I must have on my windows XP package... I only have the
full installation kit for Toshiba... What do I do if I do
not have the code anymore?

Thanks

If your XP came installed on your laptop there will be a sticker on the
bottom with the Product Key on it. However, I don't think you need to
activate, it is done before you received the laptop. If it needed to be
activated you would be getting prompts to do so, and XP would not work after
30 days. Activation has nothing to do with your internet problems. Repost,
giving details on your internet problems and someone will help.

I also have a toshiba laptop, they only supply a restore cd and activation
is not required...sounds more like you may be the victim of a virus (blaster
perhaps). update virus definitions in your anti-virus program and make sure
that you have all windows updates, also enable xp's firewall.
