Win XP 64 bit oddities

I recently bought a system with Win XP 64. I notice two oddities, which I
would like to remove.
1) The Taskbar shows "Search the Desktop".
2) Win XP often starts on its Autoplay of a particular folder (as if the
folder is a CD). The folder is not even on the system
CMA

1) Windows Search Deskbar - part of a new "feature" called Windows
Desktop Search. Has been rolled out via Automatic Updates over the last
week or so. Personally I think it is a pain in the proverbials.

2) Said folders probably have an Autorun.ini file in them and when
double clicking them the program specified in Autorun.ini runs
automatically. You may have to select "View all files..." from Tools -
Folder Options to see them.

Stephen,
Thanks for the insights. I got the system newly built for me. The builder
said he would update my Win XP 64. I never thought about an Automatic Update
that I might not want.
Is there any way to turn it off once one has Desktop Search?
