I tried to convert a project to a movie and save it on a
CD-R, but Movie Maker doesn't recognize my CD-RW. I
downloaded the lastest MovieMaker, but no luck. Any ideas?
Also, is there a way to say a project to anything other
than a .WMV file? I'd prefer "VCD", "SVCD" or even "MPEG."
I want to play my movie on a DVD player. Thanks.

I have tried to the same thing and noticed there are lots
of postings about this problem but no solutions. Surely
it must be quite simple. I have recorded my movie and
just want to copy it on my dvd writer so I can watch it.
It wont recognise my DVD RW. Have you found out yet?

You have to use third party software for recording a DVD... Noviemaker will
NOT do this.

Please post problems with MovieMaker to the MovieMaker newsgroup at

microsoft.public.windowsxp.moviemaker

Or visit MVP PapaJohn's website at www.papajohn.org

Yes, it is simple. I had the same problem. Apparently MM2 does not
recognize a simple CD RW (including a DVD RW) unless you do the
following:

START, MY COMPUTER, right click on cd rw drive icon, PROPERTIES, click
recording tab, click checkbox entitled "Enable CD recording on this
drive", APPLY, OK, then click out. If it doesn't work the first time,
then repeat procedure until the 'enable' setting finally takes,
that's what I had to do. I found that all other cd rw software like
roxio and pinnacle, virtual dub andTMPGEnc worked fine and the enable
box was by default UNnchecked on my system, even though I know the
the hardware and drivers were installed properly. I'm not sure why ms
does not enable by default. It doesn't make any difference except for
MM2.
