I have WIN ME (I hate it!) bought WIN XP Upgrade, tried to
install it. I lost my access to the internet via DSL.
Can't get it back. Been on phone to cccomm.net 5 hours,
they "can't figure it out." Dell told me to download a
driver at a computer store, did that, tried to install
driver --still no internet. HELP! Please email me at
(e-mail address removed) with help. I can get on computer at
work briefly occassionally. Will check back when I can.
THANKS!

DSL is handled as a LAN connection. You may want to remove all network
items from the Network Connection window and then turn off the
computer. Remove the network card and restart Windows. Scan the
Registry for the network card (manufacturer or model name) and remove
all references that are left here. Shutdown Windows and re-insert the
card. Run the Network Setup Wizard to setup your network.
If you find that other problems arise, you may want to get rid of the
Windows installation at all and reinstall Windows XP clean. Usually
this will have better results. The disadvantage: you need to reinstall
your applications as well.
