I am running Win XP pro SP1. Normally I use a stand alone fax machine but have been trying to use the fax within Win XP. I am having the following type problem: If I am off the internet and receive a fax within Win XP and then attempt to go on the net to read emails I get a message that the modem is in use. I have not been able to disable the Win Fax system so that I can dial on to the net

Today I received a fax on Win XP, I was off the net. A few mainutes later another fax came in but Win XP did not respond. As I worked through this, I kept getting the message that the modem was in use

I suspect that there is some set up or key stroke that disables the Modem so I can dial out but I have not been able to figure out what it is. Any help would be appreciated.

Please make sure the modem you are using is compatible
with Windows XP. The list of modems certified by Microsoft
is at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/catalog/default.aspx?
