WIN DVD Burns fine all setting are correct for DV-AVI. Once burned will run
in windows media player but will not run on DVD Player.

Projects uptill DEC burned fine and played on same DVD & TV. Far as I can
tell nothing in formating or projects saving has changed. Have tried
different brand of DVD +R as well as after last message different speeds to
no avail. When put in DVD player all discs do the same it just attempts to
read......

Replaced DVD burn (w/ Sony DRU-830A) thinking this was the problem still
same results. Burns the disks fine and still plays on any computer media
players just not DVD players.

Have two major projects DUE and HUSBAND is totally frustrated from trying to
save my projects AND most of ALL me & my desperation! PLEASE, HELP!

Some DVD players have problems with
home made DVDs. Have you tried the disk
on several different players?

Have you tried DVD-R DVD blanks? I've
had good luck with Verbatim but you may
not .

Verbatim DVD-R 16X

Mr. Inzer,

I wish to thank you for working with me on this. My husband said the same
thing and we are trying the DVDs on different players. He was on line reading
that DD-R are not reliable and are the only thing he can find with problems
when making DVD. But as he stated this morning it is the only thing he hasn't
tried. His issue though is if it comes down to DVD players things are going
to get difficult. His comment was that "How is it that up till DEC this
didn't matter and now it does. We burnt over 200 DVD for all his soldiers as
a return gift and had no problems. (We figured this was why the original
burner was bad.) Besides actually burning a disc is there another way to see
if it is our new burner is the problem.

Aggravating to be sure but creating home
made DVDs can be very frustrating and
sometimes the answer is not necessarily
the one we feel is logical.

In my thinking...the issue seems to be related
to the media you are using....but I could certainly
be wrong. If you believe that DVD-R media is
unreliable...I guess you'll have to stick with
DVD+R.

And it could be an issue with your DVD player...
trying the DVDs on some other players would be
first on my list.

If you discover the answer...please share it with
this newsgroup. Good luck...

Sounds like the exact SAME problem I am having....

I have successfully played projects made from Movie Maker (burned on both
CD-R & DVD-R) on my Sony DVD/CD player up til sometime in December....

Finished a new project, saved it to my harddrive, burned it to the same type
of CD and now it won't play in the DVD player. I made the project from the
same type of files as previous projects? I am not doing anything different.

I actually have 2 of the same brand/model DVD player and the new project
will not play on either one? But the old projects will?

I have since burned dozens of CD's, DVD-r, DVD-RW to try to get it to play
on the same DVD player but it sometimes just tries to read the disk other
times it says "No audio No video".

but.....strangely the new project will play just fine on my Windows Media
Player????

Lots of long hours went into this new project and I am dreading to start all
over again...

Any help/advice is GREATLY appreciated!

Just a quick note:
Go to Windows Update.
Select Review Update History in Options.
Look at any of the updates to any of the
software that applies to your hardware
or software used to burn, capture, edit your videos.
This may take a while to track down by looking at the
KB articles for the pieces that were patched. In particular,
look for enhancements/new features hidden in a patch.

If you have any, or just want to try removing one at a time,
give it a go. Be sure to make backups BEFORE each remove!
Worst case would be a restore, but depending on how much
space is used for the update, you could be stuck not being
able to do a restore. This happened to me and forced a
recovery and restore from backup-not much fun!
