I'm using the trial, "30 day" version of Win Dvd and Power Dvd, yet my dvd drive still doesn't recognize a dvd disk. All other disks work fine, however. Can anyone advise? Is there any reason why "trial version" shouldn't work? I'm using XP Pro.

You're welcome Mike. The problem isn't the "trial version", for I'm using PowerDVD too - not trial version - and whenever I try to run a DVD, neither PowerDVD nor Windows Media Player recognise the disk though all other disks work okay. Both display the message "There is no disc on drive D". I just can't figure it out. My OS is Windows XP Pro too. Whatever suggestion will be appreciate

Thanks divair. For what it's worth, someone told me to try to access the disk through "My Computer". When i do that, the dvd disk is STILL not seen, but a music and data cd IS. Still don't know what to do.

The same here. I think the hardware is the problem - I've got a LG
CD-RW/DVD-ROM and since I got it I haven't been able to get it to run a
single DVD.

Did you guys update to Service Pack 1. I was playing a
dvd before I upgraded my Windows.
I hate to admit this but it not a hardware, it is a
problem with the Windows. I have tried Power DVD, nDVD,
and windows media player and nothing work since the
upgrade to SP1 for XP.

Hi Stormen
I upgraded to SP1 yesterday, so the problem isn't with Windows. By the way,
I haven't had any other problem with Windows XP Professional - before or
after upgrading it to SP1 - but the one with playing DVD.
