we have a win 2000 domain architecture. The WIN98
machines in my network do not log on to the network when
the ip is obtained from the DHCP server.
The same machine is able to log on to the domain when a
fixed ip address is assigned to it.

I have tried installing the win9x ads client to resolve
the issue but it is not helping

There are a few machines in which assigning fixed ip
address and installing ads client does not work. This
problem is observed in WIN98 OS only.

what can be the problem ?

I didn't see you say that you have the Win9x Directory services client
installed,

We consider that a requirement in a W2k envirnment.

I beg to differ with you Diane. I've never had the need to install the
DS-client. And Ashwini mentioned that he tried that already.
