Win 2K Server Linking with XP machines

I have a small network with one file server running Win
2000 Server and about 15 desktop machines all running
Windows 2000. My problem is I have a new laptop with Win
XP Pro. I cannot for the life of me get this laptop
configured in my network. I don't have a domain, I only
have a "workgroup" called "OFFICE". If I set this XP
machine up with these paramaters I cannot see my network.
I can't connect to the server or any of my networked
printers. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have static IP addresses? Do you use DHCP? Do you

run your own DNS, do you run WINS? Can you Ping the router
or the other machines? Can you ping that machine from
another machine? Need more info to help you...
