Win 2K Pro .NET framework 2.0 installation

I recently ran MS update which automatically pulled across .NET
Framework 2.0 and started to install it. Mid way through, it crashed
and, when I rebooted, it gets half way through the splash screen and
crashes. If I go in under safe mode, it will not let me remove,
install, modify or reinstall .NET framework vs 1 or 2, and will not let
me run update to get it again.

I am running Win 2K pro sp4.

Anybody any ideas?

I'm guessing you're now looking at a clean install but ask them in
dotnet.framework.setup Recover your data from a parallel install.
