Im having a problem setting up my LAN, specifically with a
win2k pro computer being unable to see any of its own
directories. I have my LAN setup in a workgroup
environment. Under "My Network Places"/"Computers Near
Me", I see my computer named "vibha" as the only computer
in the workgroup. When I click on this computer however,
the c,d,e drives are not shown, only the "Printers folder"
and "Scheduled Tasks folder".

Based on some of the reading I have found Ive tried the
following:
1. With the command prompt, I tried: net view \\vibha -
however I received the response "There are no entries in
the list"
2. In the address box in Windows explorer I typed
"\\vibha\c" however received the error popup box
"Windows cannot find "\\vibha\c". Check the spelling and
try again, or try searching for the item by clicking the
Start button and then clicking Search.
3. I then typed "\\vibha\c$" -- and only then was I able to
receive the full directory listing of the c: drive.

Due to my inability to display the folders, I cannot
synchronize folders and files with other computers in the
workgroup.

Ive read that there might be a NetBios problem.
I need some help at this point. Thanks

Sounds to me like all you need to do is share your C:
drive. In "My Computer" right click on your C: drive and
click on "Sharing..."

Once you set up a new share it should appear in "My
Network Places".

If this does not work, post and let me know.

Well you were right, however I really found the error in my
ways. I was sharing the drive, however it was shared as
c$, not c. I had to go in manually and rename the share
name to simply c, d, e, etc and remove the $ suffix. Im
not sure why Windows set up the names of the drive with the
$ suffix as default. Anyway, problem solved.
Thanks
