Win 2003 R2 version?

I'm a MSDN subscriber and noticed the different versions of Windows 2003
Standard. There's a Win 2003 Standard R2 for download.

What exactly is "R2" and what's the difference between it and the non-R2
version?
 
is it atleast as stable as the non-R2 version or is it a beta? i couldn't
exactly tell from link.
