Win 2003 cut & paste problem

This is driving me nuts and I can't seem to find a solution. I've trawled
Google and MS's KB and found nothing useful except for a couple of questions
from people who seem to be having similar problems (but no answers).

We have two Win 2003 servers set up as application servers. The clients on
one suffer an intermittant problem where they can't paste from the windows
clipboard. They can cut (and copy I think) succesfully, but can't paste.

The problem does not affect all users, only some, but it does not affect
those users all the time. Sometimes beginning a new session will solve the
problem temporarily, sometimes it won't. Sometimes the users can paste once
after a re-boot and then it "breaks".

The fact that it only happens to users on one server and not the other
points the finger at the server, but the fact that it only occurs to some
users and not others indicates problems with their roaming
profiles...........

My next step would be to re-install Win 2003, but I'd rather find another
solution first.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello David,

I don't have an answer to your cut and paste question,
but I have a question for you about your Windows 2003
installation, if you don't mind.

Do you have user CALs configured so that more than just
administrators can connect through Terminal Server to
your application server?

If so, for your users (non-administrators), what local
security groups do they belong to? Can they connect if
they belong to just Remote Desktop Users, or do they have
to belong to an administrator group such as "Power Users"?

If I have a normal user connect through terminal server
and they belong to just "Remote Desktop Users"
(and "Users"), when they log in a desktop is not
displayed. Have you run into this problem?

Thanks,

Keaton

Hi Keaton,

no, our users are just members of the local "Users" group - however I have
added "our domain/Domain Users" as a member of that group.

I don't have any problems with desktops - so sorry, I can't help.

Cheers

David
