Win 2000 Startup issue

My Win2K will start up normally then when loading the desktop it will
shut down normally ('saving settings box...) and return to the log in
screen as normal. I am at a loss of what to do since I can't access
any files, well..because the machine will not stay up. I really have
nothing of any consequence on there but I do use it to monitore the
network and set up other equipment; After setting up the machine to
boot from cd and reinstall the OS, it still will not work. Any ideas?

You probably did some partition manipulation, resulting in an
incorrect drive letter for the system partition. Have a look here:
