I have been trying unsuccessfully to set up a newwork
connection so that both home computers can access the
Internet.

I have Win 2000, identical Linksys Ethernet cards in both
cptrs., Linksys Etherfast DSL router with the cable from
the DSL modem going to the "Internet in" on the router and
out to each computer's Ethernet card.

Both Ethernet cards set up using Linksys setup CD.

My problem is:
1) I can't figure out how to access one cptr from the
other.
2) The second cptr can't get on the Internet.
I've been trying to solve the problem using Win 2000 help,
M.S. Knowledgebase, etc....

My goals:
1) Access the Internet from either or both computers.
2) Reciprocal access of hard drives of both computers.
3) Print from either/both computers.

Help, please !!!

I have basically the same set-up in my home, but with a
LinkSys Cable Router instead of a DSL router.

First, check your basic connectivity stuff, such as the
NIC configurations in each machine. Do you have green
lights on the cards? on the router ports? Are the crads
set up to receive DHCP addresses?

Read the directions that came with the router to configure
the router properly. Have it receive a DHCP address from
your phone company and have it issue DHCP addresses to
your computers.

Use IPCONFIG on each computer to see its IP address and
try pinging each machine from the other. Try pinging the
router from both machines, too.

Give us some more information if you still can't get it
working, and we'll see if we can help you further.

Sorry - forgot to put my name/email address on that last
one. I wrote that - email or post if you have more
questions.
