I am getting an error pop-up that says:
"The file or directory D: is corrupt and unreadable
Please run the chkdsk utility".

Problem is D: is a software raid 5 (3~18Gig Drives)
and I can't run chkdsk on a software Raid 5.

There is also a Directory on this drive that I can't access
in any way other than to rename it. I can't delete,
move,cut, copy, nothing
The drive seems to be working O.K. we are reading and
writing to it fine and it shows Healthy in the Disk
Management

Any advise?

Why can't you? Have you tried chkdsk /x

Do you have proper permissions, and does SYSTEM have permissions to the
drive and folder? If users have the correct privileges then it may appear
that everyone can access all the data, but if your account is locked out you
will not be able to manipulate data. If SYSTEM is locked out the OS cannot
read the drive/folder.
