Have just installed clean version Win 2000 pro and cannot locate server on
network. The connection is recognised, but cannot logon or find the server

Please provide mosre details so that we can accurately assess the problem.
Can you ping the server from another client machine? What's the server's ip
address (do ipconfig /all at the command prompt and provide the information
here).

Thanks,

Aren't you using DHCP to get an IP automatically from the server?

Thank you for your reply, and sorry for being so vague.
I duplicated all the TCP/IP settings from another station and then mapped to
the server...that has now worked, and I can access the server files .
However there is a conflict with using the same IP address and I am unsure
how to assign another or rather what to use in the way of a number

thanks
