I have a PIII running Win 2000 that freezes up after about 10 minutes of
use. The only way to reboot is by unplugging the computer.I tried several
online scanners like Bit Defender and others but they found nothing. I have
adaware and spybot installed also. Can someone point me in the right
direction. Thanks

Check your drivers for all your hardware.

More information is needed. Check your Syslog and Application log
under Computer Management for any clues. Are you hooked up to
broadband? If so, watch the modem lights and see if they are blinking
or full on. That would be one indication if it is network related.
Search for MSCONFIG on Internet and install the XP version. Disable
auto startup programs and services to find what is causing it. Check
for updated hardware drivers and install them one at a time to see if
there is a culprit there. Are your Adaware and Spybot updated? These
are only some of the ways to troubleshoot; there are more.

Overheating? Check fan and fan mounting hardware.

Exactly !

Check; CPU, CPU fan, RAM and other components as this is symptomatic not of a software
problem but of a hardware problem.

Sounds rather like a very bad power source to me...
