Appologies if this is the wrong group to ask this.
I have W2K (Swedish version) on a IBM thinkpad and fell asleep listening to
radio yesterday. Battery of course died somewhere during night and after
recharching it, the computer refuse to start. I get the IBM thinkpad page, the
option to start IBM recovery program (you know, reboot the entire machine
and reinstall W2K) but when it is supposed to start windows instead I get the
following message:
"Systemet kunde inte startas om från den senaste platsen pga ett läsfel.
Ta bort återställningsdata och fortsätt till startmenyn"
(In translation it is something along this: System can't restart from the latest
place because of a reading error. Erase recoveringdata and continue to
START menu).
I've asked everyone I know and so far I've got the following suggestions:
check with and without battery (done, no changes)
try press F8 (tried, didn't work)
try tapping the harddisk when restarting (tried, didn't work)
try connect the harddisk to other computer in order to save all data (haven't
tried that yet since I don't have adapter yet)
try W2K CD (not tried yet, my CD is in another country, trying to find one to
borrow)
Any other suggestions?
