WIn 2000 and Sonicwall VPN Client

I have been having some trouble with a couple of laptops.
I installed Sonicwall VPN Client and now When I log in it
doesn't see the server and will not run the logon script.
When I check at the command promt ( echo %logonserver%)I
am logging onto the local machine instead of the network.
Mind you this is when they are plug directly into the
network. If I log off then back on the script runs fine.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening? I have tracked
it down to this software and i am not sure how to fix it
other then uninstalling it.

any help would be great!

They are running Ver 8.0.0(build 10).
And yes it is disabled doesn't seem to matter.
