I'm currently using WinAmp 2.20; I see that WinAmp is now up to v5.02
Is there any compelling reason not to, upgrade?

Rhexis said:At the very least, I'd recommend you upgrade to 2.81 (or 2.91) as 2.20 is rather
old. Oldversion.com has both available for download.
Winamp 2.95 is the last 2.x version.
That's what I am using.
You find it by following the "classic winamp" links on winamp.com, if I
recall correctly.
Roger said:I tried looking for it now but no luck, they have remade the web site since
I downloaded 2.95.
Now there is a page with all possible information about 2.9x versions,
except where to find it. http://winamp.com/nsdn/winamp2x/
I know the filenames though, winamp295rc_full.exe, or replace full with
lite for the lite version. I see it is available from a small number of web
sites.

Rhexis said:Yeah, I know. I recommended an older Winamp, because they started
to add lots of features around 2.81, if I remember correctly. 2.95 contains
some of the features that later went into Winamp 5 and is really not what
he wants if he's after an old-school, no-fuss version of Winamp.

Hi Andy, long time no read.
It has become bulkier and has a lot more features, so if you aren't interested
in an all-round media player/encoder/coffee-brewer don't bother.
On the other hand, there are plenty of reasons to update. If you like eye candy,
the new skinning engine actually isn't halfbad (when compared to the abysmal
Winamp3). There's also the video integration, the built-in global hotkeys, the
media library and a bunch of other stuff that some people love (I don't,
personally, so I went for a barebones install of Winamp 5).

I'd recommend trying out our MP3 player-Babya bPlayer as it is a smaller
download size and is easy to use:

Yes, you can play .avi,*.mp3 and other media files (if a appropiate
codec is installed).I can play .wma files with it.
donutbandit said:But can it convert filetypes like Real, WMA, midi, NES, and SNES game music
files to WAV or MP3? Winamp can.

Can someone please remind me what the differences between Lite, Full and
Standard versions are?
The size.
Thank you (and to everyone else who offered advice about WinAmp)
