Will Win Messenger 5 talk to MSM 6?

Does anybody know if Windows Messenger 5 will communicate
with someone using MS Messenger 6? I've thinking about
going back to 4.7 since it seems to be quicker. I'm
starting to see serious video delays that I didn't have
with 4.7. (allways using highspeed connection 1.5M
download and 192Kbps upload). MSM 6 has good video but it
too is even slower than 5 or 4.7.

Hey GlennR,

Most probably it would work Glenn! Some of my friends have Windows Messenger
and they do have a webcam and it runs smooth.

Thanks Jose. Just didn't see why I would want to have two
different veriosn of messenger on my computer. Just adds
more confusion.
Cheers,
Glenn

Thanks Jonathan.

Greetings Glenn,

MSN Messenger 6 actually has two video modes. It has
the 'Webcam' option, which is *not*
compatible with Windows Messenger, and a 'Start Video Conference' option (in the MSN
Messenger 6 Actions menu) which is compatible with
Windows Messenger (4 and 5). Note that
the 'Start Video Conference' option is only available on Windows XP.

The 'Start Video Conference' option is exactly the same
as the 'Start Camera' option in

Jonathan:

My MSN Messenger 6.0 doesn't seem to have an option for "Start Video
Conference" under ACTIONS. It has "Webcam" and also "Start Netmeeting".
