I recently tried vista on a friends pc. Moviemaker was much improved,
especially the final resolution of the saved movie.

Unfortunately I have tried for 9 or 10 hours to get my XP upgraded to Vista
but the damn upgrade fails each time after an hour or so.

Hence my question ; is it possible to obtain and install the later version
of MovieMaker that is supplied with Vista and install it on XP?

No...the Vista version of Movie Maker
will not run on WinXP...the latest version
WinXP can run is 2.1.

Maybe you could get some help installing
Vista in the following newsgroup:
