Hi,

Does anyone know what Microsoft's plans are concerning
the number of cores they will support under their new
Vista OS? Will they limit it to two, as they do in w2k-pro
and XP?

Perhaps a little bit too early to be concerned about this at
the present time. Who knows? It might depend on how the wind
is blowing when Vista is in production. Or what is available
in duo- and multi-cores and applications. Or it might be more
profitable for Microsoft to license for just duo-cores and a
separate license for multi-cores in excess of 2.

There is no limit to the number or cores in XP so I expect the same will
apply with Vista. The limit is for the number of CPU's. A multi-core CPU
counts as one CPU regardless of the number of cores.
