will sitting idle (off) clog all inkjets?

I'm a little concerned when some say "even when sitting unused for a
week", I mean I may leave the printer off and unused for weeks at at
time - will it clog up & at most will I only need the prime/clean to
avoid problems?

I make these comments with respect to newer photo printers, as opposed
to old Canon bubble-jets and HP deskjet which never caused a problem
over the years for me. I'm thinking Canon i850 or Epson C82 models.

It shouldn't clog as long as the printer was turned off normally, and
not through a power bar. When you turn off the printer by the normal
on/off switch, the printhead is parked in a rubber tray that seals off
the nozzles from the air.

The longest I've left my printer (Canon i850) unused was 10 days while
on a brief vacation. It printed just fine after that period of sitting
idle.

If your printhead does clog, the Canon has a removable printhead that
could be cleaned by dabbing it gently on a damp paper towel to loosen
any clogged ink. I had to do that a couple of times with my old HP
cartridges, but not very often.

I leave my Epson off most of the time. I power it on once a month or so. It
is about 1 year old, no problems with it. It is critical to power it off
with the printer power button.
