Hi,
Heres my problem. I am adding memory to my friends
computer, which is running win 2000 and it will not accept
the memory in both slots. Their computer is a HP Pavilion
6736.Both slots work individually. And when I put the
memory in both slots at the same time, it does register
that all the memory is there, but then I get the windows
error to update my BIOS, which I have done.
Yes, this is the correct memory for my computer, and the
correct amount of memory. I appreciate any help you can
give me. Thanks !

What type of motherboard is it? Some motherboards can
only accept so much of a particular speed/type or RAM.

Also, if the RAM cards are not the same speed (or, sometimes, from the
same manufacturer) problems can result. Not often, but sometimes. W2k is
particularly sensitive about RAM imbalances. (Don't ask.)

This is a particularly puzzling problem. If all else fails, I'd be
inclined to take the box to my local one-man PC shop and ask the
friendly tech to stick in 2 identical RAM cards, and see what happens.
Big stores don't do this while-u-wait stuff.
