Hi. Have just upgraded from Windows 98 to XP (with SP2 upgrade). Most things
seem to be OK, however, when performing the shutdown the PC seems to go into
hibernation mode as opposed to properly shutting down. Turning off the mains
supply seems to be the only way of properly closing down. Any ideas? Many
thanks, David A.

I have same issue, and it started when and after the install of SP3. It only
does a fine restart and shutdown in safe mode. Rest of the time forget it. I
have to sit and wait a few minutes after the box Windows Xp is shutting down,
but it just sits there, after a few minutes I press the main power button on
my system.

I have tried numerous things, checking registry, registry scans etc and
still same issues.
