When I send a file to be copied to my cd burner, the
system trys to send it, but it never gets there. It also
hangs up the system and it can not be restarted because
it is continuing to try to work on it. I am working
windows xp and have a DVD R/RW.

Windows has no built in DVD burning capability. Your burner should have
come with its own software, you will need to install it.

I am not trying to burn a dvd. just send a file to the
burner. The file is too big for a floppy needs to be a cd

XP does not support packet writing which is what you are apparently trying
to do if you are trying to send the file directly to the CD, that requires
third party software. If it's a DVD, even though you are trying to just
send a file to it, the same applies, XP does not support that function
natively.

This requires third party software such as the Direct CD component of Easy
CD Creator, www.roxio.com or the InCD component of Nero, www.nero.com.

Check the web sites for version compatibility with XP as well as compatible
CD-Writers.
