WIll not record Voice

Greetings,

I have bought myself some Altec Lansing headphone with
attached Mic, but I can't get the mic to work. I have
checked all the boxes in my audio devices, but they still
don't work.

I alos have a built in Mic in my monitor (philips 105MB)
and this won't work either, my sound card is a VIA AC'97
audio.

Can anyone help me please?!

It's unwise to post your real e-mail address to newsgroups. Learn how to
use an alias...and avoid junk mail.

Is the mike muted, or its volume control turned down? Is the mic channel
active?

Double-click the speaker icon at the right side of the taskbar. Click
OPTIONS|PROPERTIES and choose the RECORD control. Be sure that the mic
channel is ON. These settings vary, depending upon your sound card, but
this may give a clue. Also be sure that the mic is firmly plugged in to
the correct jack...usually the RED one.
