will not go on standby

I have xp home sp2 tried to install sp3 but would not install so
removed it which worked but now cannot go to standby the computer will
restart everytime

Suggestion:

Troubleshoot the SP3 failure first - get it installed..

Update the chipset drivers for your computer after that and do a little more
cleanup (Other software updates and drivers, Disk Clean, CHKDSK, DEFRAG,
etc)

Along those lines - what was the SP3 issue?

i have the sp3. my proble is that the option to choose hibernate or
standby does not exist on my laptop. How do i restore these options??
