Amy

Ok I've never seen this before and have come to the
conclision that it's Win 2000 upgrade and not the Office
XP upgrade since I have 2 computers that have the same
hardware and only 1 has both upgrades while the other only
has the office upgrade.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, my next step will
be to take my sledge hammer to it, if I can't get this
taken care of. If I could get it to stop rebooting I'd be
willing to reinstall Win 98 which is what I just upgraded
it from yesterday.

So sorry...
You could read to see what are to support Windows 2000 Office XP.
The second box has Windows 98se with Windows Office XP Suite and it works, right.
The first box has Windows 2000 SP? and ? hotpatches ? and Windows Office XP Suite
and it looping boots?

Start the second box and read the postings (DOS type screen at the beginning), and
when you see a screen that has F8 on it Press the F8 key.
One of the slections in Safe Mode. Choose it. Enter. When you get into Windows
(don't worry about the size of characters on the monitor) do the following.:

Go to the Control Panel > System >Advanced >uncheck Automatically Reboot. Restart
your computer, and you will get a BSOD. Write it down and post it. Someone can
help you from there.

You also can restart in Safe Mode, go the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and
uninstall Windows Office XP Suite. Reboot and see if you can get a completed boot.
You did say this was the last Application you installed, didn't you?

good luck,

Of course that didn't work. It womt let me get into any
safe mode at all. It just puts up a sceeen about dumping
something and then reboots. It flashes the screen so fast
I can't even read it, much less do anything else, like
print.

The last thing I installed on that coputer was Office XP,
but oddly enough, that's the only thing I
installed/upgraded to on the other computer and I don't
have any problems with it. Because I initally thought it
was XP that was causing it, but since that's only
happeneing on one of them, I've come to the conclusion
that it has to be Windows that's caused the reboot loop.

If you have a set of Boot Disks,
Boot to Command to Command Prompt.
"type" fdisk /mbr

If you don't
Go to your good machine
Go to www.bootdisk.com
Get a bootdisk containing "fdisk"
Boot to a Command Prompt
"type" fdisk /mbr <enter>

There is the possibility you have an infection
that has moved the partition table
If so, that will have to be dealt with too

I have the exact same problem as Amy, win 2000 is going around in circles
rebooting. What boot disks do I need to get to the C:\ prompt. Win 98 & ME
boot disks take me to a:\ but wont read the c drive obviously.
Thanks in advance :)

ok at the bottom. it states the article applies to 95,98 & ME but I am
willing to try anything. How can I get to the C:\ please to run it.

BTW I installed Pub XP and that's what killed me :(

Thanks
