Yes, it will install. I do it all the time on my win-98 systems.
But it's own "live update" mechanism doesn't work. It hasn't worked for
me for the past 2 or 3 years.
Even when I install it on an XP system, the liveupdate function doesn't
work. It will always say that "your installation is up to date".
Also, does Norton still furnish the definition files for this?

You want the "i32" file, not the "v5i32" file.
That is a link to a specific update (dated yesterday). There is another
url (which escapes me right now) which is always pointed at the current
update package.
The trick with NAV 2002 is that you can keep renewing it when it's
yearly license expires simply by deleting the file
"catalog.livesubscribe" and then reinstall it. For that reason I
suggest you copy the NAV2002 CD to your hard drive so that you will
always have it (you can install it from the copy on the drive).
That said, I wouldn't get all bent out of shape over the need for an AV
program. They are largely useless, and have been for the past few
years. They simply don't catch a respectible fraction of the
polymorphic viruses that have been circulating for the past few years.
As well, most viruses, trojans and worms simply don't function correctly
(if at all) on win-98.
