will new virus affect 56k users using windows XP

I was wondering if the new virus thats spreading will
affect users of 56k or not. I tried calling your help line
but it did not work because it was too busy. Please help
me out!

The method of connecting to the Internet has nothing whatsoever to do
with whether your computer can be affected by the spread of
worms/viruses/etc. These things are distributed _via_ the Internet, and
they don't care nor care if you have a slow modem or a fast one, a DSL
or cable-tv connection, a T1 line, or any other method of connecting.
(Well, I don't suppose that those people who use the Internet via tin
cans and string would be in danger of viruses, etc.)

Unless, that is, you have the good sense to protect that method of
connecting by installing and always using a firewall.

(As for 'your' help line, we here are not "they": This is a public
newsgroup, with all sorts of people contributing both good and horrible
information, but this is not Microsoft _per se_.)
