I am looking for a freeware program that will make a simple, legal will.
Any suggestions?

I looked into this a while back w/o much luck.

Closest I found were some e-text wills old enough to be out of copyright (and
therefore pretty much out-of-date).

As pjmsmit noted, it depends on your locale (for example in Virginia a
hand-written will is legal and binding (as long as the content is sensible /
valid) w/ pretty minimal requirements for witnessing &c.

Check w/ your local library for a book, then get together w/ a lawyer.

Talk to some of the notary publics in your area about locating generic
fill-in-the-blank type forms.

Dang! I didn't think it would be a problem. I'm in Florida if anyone comes
across anything.

You can usually get them from your local library. The thing is that there
are so many variations in what is accepted in different counties, states,
etc. In most places, a simple will is nothing more than a list of what
you're leaving to whomever, a witness sig and a stamp from a notary.

Since you aren't having luck with freeware (I've never seen any), go
to your local big office-supply store. I got a "last year" version of
some legal software for $5.
