Will increasing RAM make a dramatic increase in performance on 433mhz Celeron box?

I recently upgraded my ancient NEC 433mhz Celeron from Win98 to WinXP. System performance in all areas has declined since that time. I've run Disk Cleanup, Defrag, got rid of unnecessary programs in both startup and on my hard drive with no improvements recognized. My system is now running on 92mb RAM

I do not want to invest a lot of money in this PC (ie: Replacing it; new processor or motherboard; etc.), so will increasing RAM up to 512 or higher return me a signicant improvement in performance

Thanks
George S.

Yes, adding RAM will improve your performance. MS recommends at least 128
Mb's, most people will agree, it takes at least 256. RAM is cheap these
days, make sure that whatever you buy is compatible with your mother-board.
