will Autoupdate retroactively update?

I,like others here, am unable to pull my defenses down enough to update
manually from M$oft so I now allow auto-update and then select which to
install after auto downloads.

CAn I assume that all cumulative security patches will be detected and
downloaded....Or is it just updated from the present forward?

You should get presented with at least the critical patches your computer is
missing. Past and present.
