I'm looking at buying a 20" Dell flat panel with 1680X1050 native
resolution. I can't find the specs for my 9600XT on ATI's website. Does
anybody know if this combination is possible? Is there any way to get this
resolution using the latest Catalyst drivers?

TIA,

Alex

maximum resolution of an AIW9600XT is listed as 2048x1536..not sure about
the regular XT...check your manual

I think that once you install the specific monitor drivers, that resolution
will be an option. Right now it won't show up. That's how it was for one of
my Dell LCD's a while back running on an 8500 card.

Just connect the 2005FPW, and the resolution will show up. It's usually
not listed in ATI and even Nvidia driver until the gfx card finds a
display connected that wants this resolution...

Sorry to break into this conversation but, i was looking for someone with
experiance with the Dell 2005PW.

I have one question if i may, can on this monitor the automatic scaling function
(which kicks in if one would drive the monitor with a resolution less then
1680x1050) be switched off ?
I like to play games but for my rig 1680x1050 is way to much and i do not want
to let the scale the monitor f.i.1024x768 to full 1680x1050

Why not? Scaling is great! It's not like the blurry picture You get when
i.e. running 800x600 on a 15" TFT that has native 1024x768. On TFTs that
have a high native resolution scaled down image quality is much better,
simply because the pixel size is much smaller...

On the 2005FPW the picture gets blurry on 800x600 and below. All higher
resolutions look fine...
