I am interested in file and folder indexing utilities (like Copernic
Desktop Agent and the $$$ware Seuthhound).

I have not come across Wilbur before but it seems to have been around
for some time. Its website tells me it is now free.

I am trying it out.

Now - if anyone can tell me how to restrict to certain drives or
folders when Wilbur builds it index then I would like to know!

Easy. You just type in the proper pathname template in the Include Files
dialog. (File - New - Include Files tab - Add)

http://wilbur.redtree.com/help/includedialog.htm

From the above page:

"Subdirectories
All the subdirectories of the path will be searched for matching files as
well. For instance c:\word\*.doc would look in the word directory and all
its subdirectories for files with the doc extension. The wild card
characters can also be used in the directory portion of the path. For
instance c:\admin\rep*\*.doc."

So you can easily restrict the drives or folders to be included in the
index.

You can use the Exclude Files dialog to exclude any drives or folders you
want to be excluded from those you have included in the index.

You can make any number of separate Wilbur indexes, each with a .WIL
extension. When you search, you can easily change from one index to
another.

You might also want to consider Yahoo Desktop Search (based on X1) and
Google Desktop Search. There are several other freeware file indexers out
there, like Ask Jeeves.

There are far more of these than I realised. With names like Yahoo,
Google and Ask Jeeves I guess they must be seeing it as a Big Thing.

Do you know if there is anywhere on the web where these file indexers
have been reviewed?
